May 15th Is Our Last HSA Meeting - Join Us!

Please join us for the last HSA meeting of the year on May 15th at 7 p.m. in the SHMS Library. We will vote in new officers, celebrate our outgoing volunteers and welcome our new officers for next year. We will also meet the new Assistant Principal, Kevin Kelly and hear all about the end of the year events coming up. We have a lot of sign ups for volunteers and donations at this time of year, so we hope you will be able to give your time or a donation. Thank you!

Teacher Appreciation Luncheon

The HSA hosted our annual Teacher Appreciation Luncheon on Thursday, May 8th. Alyse and Perry Katsapis catered a Greek themed luncheon that was a big hit! Teachers and staff members enjoyed having lunch and we are appreciative for all that they do for our students. Thank you to Meredith Spector and Heather Emblem for coordinating everything for the luncheon and to everyone who donated items.

Scholastic Book Fair, May 12 - 16th

The HSA will be hosting the Spring Book Fair from May 12 - 16th. Please send your student in with money so they can buy their books for summer reading! This is a great fundraiser for the HSA, so we appreciate your support. We could also use some volunteers to help with the cash registers to check students out. Please sign up if you are able to help (Clearances are required). Thank you in advance for your time. This is a great way to see your student in school!

PSSA Testing Is Over!

The Home & School Association celebrated the end of the PSSA's last week with ice cream treats for all students during their recess period. While the 8th grade had additional testing this week, it is now over. Great job to all of our students!

Middle School Swimming Club

We are exploring interest in forming a Middle School Swim Club! This club will offer a two-week, camp-style training experience in May, culminating in a meet against another local middle school on May 30th. It’s a fantastic opportunity for any middle school student interested in learning about competitive swimming and aquatics.

We are tentatively planning for sessions from May 19th to May 30th, after the Spring Sports season. Practices and clinics will take place after school for about an hour.

Students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade are all welcome to join! Information is also posted in Powerschool.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month

Mental Health Awareness Month is observed in May each year to promote mental health education, reduce stigma, and encourage support for those affected by mental health conditions. It was established in 1949 by Mental Health America and includes various activities and themes aimed at raising awareness and advocating for better mental health care. Make sure you check in on your friends, family, neighbors and co-workers. It could make a world of a difference!
