The 6th Grade Back-to-School Night will be held Monday, Sept. 14th at 7:00 p.m. and Back-to-School Night will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 16th for the 7th & 8th grades at 7 PM. The music programs will meet at 6:30 PM with parents in the auditorium. Spirit wear will be sold throughout the evening.

Visit us at Back to School Night on Monday, September 14th (Grade 6) or Wednesday, September 16th (Grades 7 & 8) to purchase spirit wear. The tables will be located outside of the library.  

Please join us on Thursday, September 17th at 7 pm in the middle school library for our first Home and School Meeting of the year.  ALL are welcome to attend!  Dr. Matsanka will be there to give school updates and answer any questions and we will also hear updates from our grade reps and committee chairs. Expect meetings on the third Thursday of each month.

Save the Date for the 5th Annual Bowling Night on Saturday, October 24th at Sproul Lanes. Scan the QR code for ticket purchasing information. This is open to all grades and raises funds for the 8th grade service project.

Back to School Night Music Meeting

We will be hosting our annual music meetings half an hour before each back-to-school night begins. 

• 6^th grade: Monday, September 14^th at 6:30pm in SHMS auditorium

• 7^th & 8^th grade: Wednesday, September 16^th at 6:30pm in SHMS auditorium

We invite you to join whether you are new to the music program or returning, as we will be talking about our extra-curricular ensembles, fundraising events, and more. Hope to see you there!

Band Night - Mandatory Rehearsal Next Week!

We are rehearsing with the high school marching band on Wednesday, September 23^rd from 2:30-3pm. Students should bring their music and their instruments to school*. Music stands from home are also highly encouraged, but only need to be brought in on performance night (Friday, 9/25).

*percussionists, french horn, euphonium and tuba players: home instruments should be brought in next week. We will store them on stage and keep them there until the end of the performance that Friday. 

ALL STUDENTS SHOULD HAVE THEIR NAMES ON THEIR INSTRUMENT CASES. This performance is a great opportunity for instruments to get lost/switched, so let's avoid that as much as possible. You can use a luggage tag or a piece of painter's tape with your student's name on it.

In order to volunteer for events and activities at SHMS (concessions, musical, dances, book fair, etc...), ALL volunteers need their clearances on file with the school district. Please submit these now, as opportunities come up quickly and it's good to have them in place now. If you are unsure of your status, please contact Heather Fili at hfili@wssd.org
