CONGRATULATIONS To Mrs. Pixie Roane!

We are so excited to announce that Ms. Roane (6th Grade P.E. Teacher), has successfully achieved the HIGHEST level of accreditation as a Fencing Master (Level 5). She is also the FIRST African-American Woman to have the decree of Fencing Master in the history/herstory of the sport. Masters are capable of teaching fencers from beginners to high level competitive champions. They can also train other coaches to become Prévôts or Masters. This certification requires passing the Prévôt written test, a written thesis and a comprehensive practical and oral exam given by a certified board of three USFCA fencing masters. Coach Pixie successfully completed each requirement for certification as a Master of Epee, concluding with her Master Thesis, 'Foundations of Fencing via Education "En" Epee. Congratulations Coach Roane!

Donations Needed for Career Day - March 21st

We could use a few more donations for Career Day! Please help us give our guest speakers some special treats, while they are graciously volunteering their time to meet with our students. Thank you for your support! Donations can be dropped off in the front office, marked for Career Day.

LOST & FOUND

Please check Lost & Found down in the cafeteria. There are so many hoodies, jackets, coats, water bottles and lunch boxes. It's starting to smell with lunch bags being left with food in them! Have your student go look OR you can come after school one day. These are just a few pictures of what is down there. The hooks are all full!

HSA Positions Available for 2025-2026

We are now in the process of looking for new volunteers for next year's HSA board. There are several positions available that do not require a lot of time, but would be so helpful if people volunteered. Specifically, looking for a Co-chair on the Executive Board. The following committee chairs are open with possibly others to be added!

Career Day - Help organize Career Day for students by soliciting volunteer speakers, snacks/drinks and surveying students

Panther Pride Coordinator - Work with the PBIS coordinator to get donations of incentives and order panther pride shirts

Web Sponsors & Fundraising - Seek out web sponsors and other fundraising opportunities such as dining out at restaurants

Social Media Reps - maintain the official SHMS FB and Instagram pages by posting updates and reminders of events coming up.

Spirit Wear Coordinator - Sell spirit wear and maintain inventory of hoodies, shirts and other spirit wear items. Track inventory in MTK and have pop up sales or provide online shops to promote spirit wear items.

Teacher/Staff Monthly Appreciation Coordinator - Set up teacher breakfasts on in-service days (usually 5-6 times). Purchase items, set up and clean up in the conference room in the front office.

Sports Concessions Coordinators - Purchase concession items such as candy, chips, drinks and pretzels to sell during the winter sports season. This would involve setting up on days when there are home games for basketball and wrestling. This is one of our biggest fundraisers and would be great to get a committee together.

For questions on any of these positions, please contact the co-chairs at shmshsa.chairs@gmail.com

Do You Recognize These Teachers?

Students guessed who was who on the bulletin board downstairs by the Copples Lane entrance. It's a great reminder that these days will go by fast!
