HSA meeting, 11/16 @7pm

Please be sure to attend our last HSA meeting for 2022 this Thursday, November 16 at 7pm. During this meeting, we will have Morgan Segal as our guest speaker from the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS) group. She will be speaking about what PBIS is and how it works within our school. Dr. Matsanka will give us an update on the happenings at the middle school. In addition, Mary Uhrig will be providing us more details about career day.

Volleyball Night

Volleyball night returned after a three year hiatus due to Covid and what a fantastic night it was! So much excitement was in the air! Thank you to all the students, teachers and staff who participated in this long awaited event. A big thank you goes out to the students who helped with the concession stand. We cannot thank our parents enough for volunteering their time and donating all the snacks and drinks. We appreciate you!

This fundraiser event helped the 8th grade students earn more money to donate to their service project,The Kisses for Kyle Foundation, a non-profit organization which provides services to families fighting childhood cancer throughout the Delaware Valley. Last night's event brought in around $1200. Congratulations on another successful fundraising event! You can learn more about the Kisses for Kyle Foundation here.

Early Dismissal

Next week will be a short week. Student will be dismissed at 11:05am on both Monday, 11/21 and Tuesday, 11/22. School will be closed on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, district wide. If you purchased Linvilla pies from the high school please be sure to pick them up on Tuesday, 11/22 at the high school cafeteria between 4-6pm.

Have you seen the new spirit wear? The HSA have paired up with Mr. Hosbach and Mr. Masse to get you one-of-a-kind, individually screen printed t-shirts made by our very own middle school students. Long sleeve t's come in hunter navy and the short sleeve t's will come in heather athletic blue and heather burgundy. Adult sizes available in XS, S, M, L, XL and XXL. Tultex brand.

SHMS Winter Concert Schedule

The Fine and Applied arts nights are fast approaching. Come out and support our band, orchestra, chorus and cantabile students. Don’t forget the new attire will be concert black – black slacks or skirts, tops, shirts and shoes. See the schedule below

6th Grade Turkey Trot

The 2nd Annual 6th Grade Turkey Trot will be held on Tuesday, 11/ 22. The 6th grade will run/jog/walk a mile on the track. There will be a collection for City Team Mission during the event. Acceptable items include men's socks, gloves, winter hats or a small monetary donation. Please have your child bring items to school.

Sign up to help out for this year's turkey trot. We need a few volunteers to help serve hot chocolate and hand out water. Please see the signup genius for available spots. A few items are also needed such as cups and water.

Poinsettia Fundraiser

Wallingford Swarthmore Music Association (WSMA) is organizing this poinsettia fundraiser in collaboration with local business favorite, Miller Greenhouses.

Direct Donation Campaign

HSA is committed to contributing to a positive school community at SHMS through staff appreciation efforts, supporting school and community initiatives such as Career Day and Art Goes To School, giving to students/families who have felt needs, and helping fund capital improvements at SHMS. Panther Pride

Panther Pride Raffle Donations

Throughout the year, students and staff are recognized and rewarded for showing their Panther Pride. These incentives can't be provided without the help of our community and we will need donations throughout the year. This is our first quarter signup for these incentives.

Please consider supporting SHMS Panther Pride with a donation. With your help, we can continue to build a positive school climate.
